PPSA Meeting April11, 2012

From Dawn & Kristie: Preschool evaluations for placement next school year are currently underway. The elementary/secondary program is currently full. Registration packets for next school year will be going out soon. Summer program applications have already gone out and are due back by the beginning of May.

Carson Smith Scholarship applications for new elementary students or for students that need to reapply are due back at the school on May 1oth with the Team Assessment Form.

The statue that was stolen is being replaced and should be back at the school in the next couple of weeks.

Dr. Yao is the new staff psychiatrist for Pingree. He is available for appointments that can be made through Mandy in the front office.

A Book Fair will be held at the school on May 22-24, 2012. More details to come.

From Sara (Social Worker): The next Parent Support Group will be Thursday, April 26th from 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm. Mirella Petersen will be there to talk about insurance issues and Amy Wierich from the Parent Center will be there to discuss transitioning into public school.

The Parent Mentor Program should be starting soon - more details to come.

In July, there will be a Social Skills camp help - more details to come.

From Laurel: We made 2506.00 at the Ben & Jerry's fundraiser with a matchimg $1,000 from Cypress Credit Union & another matching $1,000 from Tomax! Thanks to all the volunteers that came out to help at this event. Ben & Jerry's was at the school today for a check presentation and tour of the school. The Sugar House Rotarians were also at the school today for a luncheon and presentaion of two new signs to be placed in the Pingree parking lot.

The school made $15, 214 from the Chili Open Fundraiser!! Thank you so much to all those that helped with this important fundraiser.

Next Pingree fundraiser is the Whirlybird Helicopters event this weekend, April 14 & 15 from 9 am until 8 pm. Come up and take a helicopter ride for $40 a person or a plane ride for $35 a person. There are also drawing tickets that can still be purchased to win a free 10 minute helicopter ride for 3 people! Contact Laurel Ingham at laureli@vmh.com or 801-273-6392 if you need more details.

Other News:
The PPSA is still collecting donations for teacher appreciation next month. All donations will be raffled off to the teachers during the luncheon on May 24th. We also need parents to come up during the teacher luncheon to volunteer in the classroom so the teachers call all enjoy their catered lunch. If you can help at all, please contact Melissa Christensen at mbc715@hotmail.com.

Monday, April 23 from 6-8 pm is Autism night at the Living Planet Aquarium. The family can enjoy the aquarium for free this night, so come out and have fun!

Heathe Sander Photography is doing a fundraiser for the Pingree Center. She will donate 50% of her session fee to Pingree during the month of April. It is $50.00 for a Family Package or $30.00 for a Portrait Package. She is willing to travel to the location of your choice. Our next PPSA meeting on May 9th, we will elect our new PPSA president. If you are interested in getting involved with the school, PPSA is a great way to do it. Come join us!!
