From Dawn & Kristie: iPads have been donated to the school with cases and screen protectors thanks to the efforts of Cheryl Smith. One classroom and the library will be also getting interactive white boards for the students to use. Hey for all the wonderful new technology coming to Pingree!! The Happy Factory will be donating a sit on steam shovel for the school and individual cars to each student at Pingree. Thanks Happy Factory!!
Dates to remember:
October 17-19: No school (Professional Development Day and UEA)
October 24: New family Orientation from 8:30-10:30 am and also again from 12:30-2:30 pm.
October 25: Picture day
October 31: Halloween parade 1:00 pm with class parties to follow.
November 20: Picture make up day
Applications for the next school year should be going out in November and will be due at the beginning of January, 2013.
From Laurel: Tiles that have been purchased for the P. Brent Petersen Memorial wall should be here in the next couple of weeks. So far about $16,000 has been raised for this fund!
The Chili Open will be on February 1 & 2, 2013 this year. We will be putting together 17-20 themed baskets this year for the silent auction. If you have anything you can donate, please contact Melissa C. Also we are looking for Sponsers for the event. Sponserships start at $350.00. Contact Laurel Ingham if you are interested in becoming a Chili Open sponser. There will be a Winter Festival again this year on February 2 at Wheeler Farm. Besides golf, there will also be a 5K fun run, and lots of children activities. Drawing tickets for prizes will also soon be available. Remember that all that money we raise throught this important festival go towards scholarships and classroom supplies!
Cheryl Smith: Big Maks will be having a lunch at Archibald's at Gardner Village on October 16 at 11:15 am. Come and meet other moms that have kids with autism and have fun! Big Maks has a blog with activies at UtahMaks.blogspot.com. Cheryl needs help giving tours at Pingree to all the new legislatures. If y0u can help, please contact Cheryl. Legislation is going to be very important again this year. We will need people ready and willing to advocate up at the capital for Preschool funding, The Carson Smith Scholarship, the Autism Registry, and more. Please be willing to help when that time comes to make sure there will be funding for our kids!!
More Dates to Remember:
Teacher Luncheon: October 25 - we need donations of crock pots of soup. We also need vegan soups since there are 10 staff members that are vegan. Contact Melissa if you can help. Crockpots can be sent on the bus.
Parking: October 27 & November 3 - we need volunteers to help park the Utes games. It is our biggest fundraiser and only requires a couple hours of your time. Contact Melissa if you can help!
Family Carnival: November 10 from 12:00 - 3:00 pm - come to our welcome back carnival. We have bouncy houses and provide a light lunch.
Touch a Truck Family Festival - Saturday, October 13 from 10-4 pm. Let you child explore all the emergency vehicles and learn what to do in an emergency. Going on at the SLC Sheriff's Office, 3148 S. 1100 W. Tickets are $5.00 per person or $20.00 for up to 6 family members.
Pingree will be having a book fair in December. More info to come!
