PPSA Meeting February 8, 2012

The first round of acceptance letters for the elementary/secondary program have gone out and the second round will be going out soon. If you have any questions about the program for next school year contact dawna@vmh.com. Evaluations for the new admissions into the preschool program will begin soon.

The Pingree Center would like to encourage parents to contact your legislatures regarding funding for your children for preschool, DSPD services, The Carson Smith Scholarship Program, and other services your child may be receiving. Your voice can make a difference so write letters, email, and go to the capital to show that these services are important to your child and family! Legislative sessions are currently being held. Please contact Mirella Peterson or Christine Passey if you can spend a couple of hours at the Capital.

The Chili Open was a big success! Thank you to everybody that donated or helped this event to be such a success. As of now, we have raised $11, 735, but not all the money has been counted! We will need a couple of parent volunteers to attent the rotarian lunch on March 22, 2012 to receive the check and thank the rotarians. If you are interested in doing this please contact Melissa at mbc715@hotmail.com. The Sugar House Rotary will also be coming to Pingree for a box lunch on April 12, 2012 and installing signs at both entrances to Pingree. The signs will remind people to drive slow, since children are present. Thanks so much to the rotarians for all they do for the Pingree Center!

The next fundraiser the Pingree Center will be involved in is the Bees Baseball game to be held sometime in August. More information will be coming on this event. If you know of a celebrity/hero that can be part of this event please contact Laurel at laureli@vmh.com.

February 23rd from 7-8:30 pm will be Pingree`s next Parent Support Night. Child care will be provided for $5.00 for up to two children. There will be a speaker the first hour and time for parents to talk for the last half hour. Pingree`s social worker is also looking to start a Mentor Program where families that have had autism in their lives for a while may be able to help provide some emotional support for new families just receiving the diagnosis. If you would like to be a mentor, please contace Sara at the school.

Our next Teacher Luncheon will be February 16th from 11-1pm. It will be a breakfast theme. We are looking for families to donate fruit, yogurt, muffins, bagels, cream cheese, and other breakfast items. If you can help, please contact Melissa at mbc715@hotmail.com. Remember items can be sent on the bus in the morning if you can not bring them in.

Staff Appreciation week will be coming up in May and we are starting to collect donations to do a raffle for the teachers. If you have any items or gift cards you can donate, please bring them to the school. Thank you for all your support!
